In Britain there is a distinctive style of playing, lyrical yet with a ringing tone, this has never been lost despite different styles emerging, certainly the brass band has a part to play in this.

To produce this recording has been an honour. I have known Simon since he was a young teenager and watched him become the professional player of repute he now is.

Simon epitomises this style of playing; there is great warmth, exciting agility and always the line sings serving his innate artistry.

This is a CD of musical substance rather than mere virtuosic display serving composers brought together by a shared love of that noble instrument ‘The Trumpet’
